"Moment's Notice"

This straight-ahead jazz set from Irish steeler Richard Nelson has a "live in the studio" flavor to it. Accompanied by a sensible ensemble of guitar, piano, bass and drums, Richard swings high and low, making you forget for the duration that the pedal steel isn't always included in jazz arrangements.

Richard's knowledge of jazz chords is encyclopedic, and his improvisations are insprirational flights of fancy. His Bethel guitar has the perfect bebop tone, to my ear, anyway. It's really refreshing to hear a steel album that's 100% jazz.
