"A Different Slant"
Mike Ihde has been an Associate Professor at Berklee College of
Music for 25 years. An author of "Country Guitar Styles"
and "Rock Guitar Styles" (Hal Leonard Publications), Mike
is a versatile guitarist, vocalist, songwriter and film composer.
Of this CD-R project, Mike writes:
"This CD is unique because I use the Leavitt Tuning. (from
low to high C#, E, G, Bb, C and D). It was invented by my good
friend Bill Leavitt, Chairman of the Guitar Department at Berklee
College of Music in Boston back in 1989 just 2 years before his
untimely passing. I have carried on his work and performed using
this tuning at the ISGC a few times as well as many other shows.
The great thing about the tuning is, not only can you play all
the Jazz voicings never before possible on a 6 string Lap Steel,
but you don't have to use ANY slants!"
