"Strum the Gospel"

Bob Strum has a unique approach to Gospel music - he hears it with jazz chords! His 12 string A6th tuning sounds rich and beautiful on slow tunes, but when the band picks up the tempo, it really swings. Here's what the steel guitar community has been saying about it:

Folks, this one is a keeper! Bob is a specialist on the A6th tuning, influenced by Herb Remington. They are personal friends and toured Switzerland doing shows a couple years back. If you want to hear some great gospel steel outside the E9th format, ranging from up-tempo numbers in swing/jazz mode, to slow inspirational hymns,this one is for you. Super chordal progressions, great band and good mix.

An incredible collection of fine gospel songs and played so masterfully by Bob. His studio musicians were tremendous and they complimented him so very tastefully. All in all, this CD is a must for everyone's collection. I, for one, am looking forward to playing some of the cut's at the Dallas show and the Indy Gospel show in May. Thanks Bob for the many hours of fine listening that I will have.

While the CD is 100% instrumental, Bob included the lyrics of all of the songs for inspiration. I'm glad that he did, because several of the songs were new to me. All in all, this a very pleasant CD to listen to.
